AAP leader Malvinder Singh Kang accuses ex-MLAs of Congress, SAD of not returning ‘MLA stickers’

CHANDIGARH: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Malvinder Singh Kang on Saturday accused former MLAs of the Congress and the Shiromani Akali Dal of not returning ‘MLA stickers’ issued by the Punjab Assembly and ”misusing” them.

He said the Vidhan Sabha has sent notices to the former legislators to return the ‘MLA stickers’ issued to them during the previous term of the House.

The Aam Aadmi Party chief spokesperson in Punjab also alleged that the former Congress and SAD MLAs were ”misusing” the stickers by claiming exemption at toll plazas.

He claimed that 80 ex-MLAs, including former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia, have not yet returned the ‘MLA stickers’ even months after suffering a humiliating defeat in the 2022 Punjab Assembly polls.

”The Vidhan Sabha has now sent notices to all ex-MLAs to return the ‘MLA stickers’ issued to them during the previous term of the House. As per the law, they should have surrendered the stickers themselves after losing the elections,” Kang added.

On the opposition’s allegation that the state government was opening ‘Aam Aadmi’ clinics as a mere ”publicity stunt”, the AAP said the state government is bringing a health revolution in Punjab.

The government is utilising existing buildings and infrastructure to give top-class health facilities free of cost to the people of Punjab, he added.

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched 400 ‘Aam Aadmi’ clinics in the state on Thursday.
